Sweco delivering climate-smart solutions for new university in Bergen
Enriching project #20 193 of 31 000.
In collaboration with the Norwegian company Enova, Sweco has planned and designed a new university with an area of 52,000 square meters in Bergen. Extra emphasis has been placed on achieving low net energy consumption and countering the effects of the local climate on the building – wind, precipitation, solar radiation and air pollutants. This is reflected among other things in a dynamic facade, an effective climate shield, ecologically sustainable materials and excellent insulation.
Thanks to several different total solutions, Sweco has reduced the energy demand by 30-40 per cent compared to the old building. In addition, the total carbon dioxide emissions are only 10-15 per cent of those for similar buildings using conventional energy solutions. A total of 3 million kWh will be saved annually.
This has been made possible through an advanced, robust and flexible energy design which, aside from low energy consumption, gives the building a comfortable indoor climate and a pleasant and inspiring working environment.
