Quality and environment

Sweco’s mission is to actively contribute to sustainable development of society. Because virtually all of Sweco’s activities affect the environment in some way, the consultants have considerable scope to make a significant and lasting contribution to sustainable development in their day-today work but also an obligation to take responsibility for any aspects within their control. As a result, the possible consequences are always weighed when faced with matters relating to the quality and environmental impact of the assignments. Sweco monitors and follows all laws, regulations and requirements with relevance for its operations.

The group-wide quality and environmental management system, which is certified according to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004, is used by the architects and consultants throughout the assignment process.

The system makes Sweco’s standardised methodology for project implementation accessible to the employees and contains all of the necessary help functions.

This is more cost-effective, since all project activities follow uniform routines and it also creates a common interface through which Sweco’s consultants can work together in assignments regardless of country or business unit. The system, which has been developed internally by Sweco, assures the quality of the assignment process and management of quality, environment and OHS parameters. The uniform approach to both large and small projects results in higher efficiency and optimal assignment management.

Sweco has a quality and environmental policy in which the overarching goal is to create better conditions for individuals, businesses and society and thereby contribute to sustainable development for future generations.

Sweco’s quality and environmental policy

Virtually everything Sweco does has some effect on society and the environment. As consultants we have the privilege of being involved in projects at an early stage. This gives us the opportunity to exert an influence, but also the obligation to take responsibility for any aspects within our control. As a result, we carefully weigh the possible consequences when faced with matters relating to the quality and environmental impact of the assignments. We monitor and comply with all laws, regulations and requirements that are of relevance for our operations.

Sweco has an efficient, decentralised organisation with delegated responsibility for implementation of the assignments. Each individual consultant is responsible for delivering client-adapted solutions with a high knowledge content, of the right quality and with the intended client benefit. Our business system is centred around the assignment process and is accessible to the consultants at all times.

At Sweco we strive for continuous improvement and development of our working methods. Strategic skills development programmes are used to meet the consultants’ need for ongoing education and training. The knowledge and experience gained by the consultants in the assignments is preserved and developed for future use.
