Energy and lifecycle consultation

Our comprehensive services include lifecycle and energy consultation for individual buildings and wider areas. We promote sustainably built urban environments that have small carbon footprints but effective carbon handprints. A lifecycle-centred approach also entails the easy and cost-effective repairs and maintenance of buildings during their use.

We take advantage of our designers’ solid expertise in systems and processes, as well as advanced digital tools, to provide lifecycle and energy consultation services. We steer projects in a controlled way towards energy-efficient and thoroughly sustainable solutions. We minimise the investment and lifecycle costs, while taking the optimal indoor conditions and the solutions’ adaptability, useability and lifespan sustainability into account.

Target energy calculations

The sooner you carry out the target energy calculations, the better able you will be to affect the building’s energy efficiency as early as during the planning phase. We will analyse the background information carefully in order to reliably assess the building’s actual energy consumption during use and maintenance. The calculation model is updated as the construction project progresses. The final target energy model will match the completed building perfectly. This can be verified by comparing the simulated and actual energy consumption levels.

Multi-objective optimisation (MOBO)

A multi-objective optimisation tool (Multi-Objective Building Performance Optimization) developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Aalto University helps users compare the implementation options for new builds and renovation projects during their investment and preplanning phases. Thousands of options can be compared quickly and cost-effectively while simultaneously optimising the project’s investment and lifecycle costs, energy consumption and carbon emissions, for example. Moreover, the same tool can be used to optimise the indoor conditions and productivity of the finished building.

Energy and life cycle planning tool

The unique energy and life cycle planning tool innovated by Sweco will speed up the calculation of energy systems and energy consumption in a way never seen before. It allows the reviewing of units comprising several buildings, e.g. city blocks or districts, as early on as during their concept or zoning stages, giving energy flow calculations for factors such as energy and life cycle costs and the carbon dioxide emissions of the site’s energy consumption.

The production devices of heating, electricity and cooling can be modelled as part of the buildings’ energy calculations. The production devices’ connections to different distribution systems can also be modelled accurately. The tool also offers advantages for modification needs during the maintenance phase.
