The City of Vaasa had organised a design competition for the Korsholmanpuistikko bridge. Three teams were invited to the actual competition from among everyone who had signed up. The competition was won by Sweco’s team. The winning team co-operated successfully with Cederqvist & Jäntti Arkkitehdit on the architecture, with Lighting Design Collective on the lighting art, and with Sipti Oy on the geotechnical engineering. Opened in August 2018 to immediate massive success, the Amos Rex art museum is now the winner of the Concrete Structure of the Year 2018 award. The award ceremony was held at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki on 17 January 2019. Sweco developed the innovative structural design in close cooperation with all parties involved in the project. Read more
The Olympic Stadium, selected as the repair construction site of the year, has required seamless cooperation from Sweco and Skanska. The new Finnkino Itis cinema opened to the public 30 November, as agreed. Wereldhave Finland, the owner of the Itis shopping centre at the time of the renovations, and Finnkino, the user of the cinema facilities, were impressed with the HVAC design, project management, BIM coordination and gorgeous indoor and facade lighting design presented by Sweco’s experienced team.
