A transition to sustainable energy systems is underway across the globe. Sweco’s energy experts work across the entire energy supply chain. Focus is on how energy is produced, distributed where it’s needed, and consumed as efficiently as possible. The result is a reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable energy supply.
In many countries, waste management is an increasing problem due to the constantly growing waste amounts. Landfill sites with huge environmental impacts are starting to be a thing of the past, but recycling and reuse of waste are not enough to solve the waste problem; the solution must be looked for in waste combustion.
Those materials classified as waste that can still be utilised in energy production can be used as raw materials. In such cases, combustible energy waste can be utilised either through traditional mass combustion or by gasification, which produce gas that can be used for energy production. One solution is to integrate waste incineration to a traditional power plant, which means that waste generated by the plant will be combusted in the nearby power plant’s boiler, which protects the environment thanks to both the shorter transport and the reduced fuel consumption.
Sweco’s experts have designed waste utilisation plants using all the known technologies, promoting sustainable development.
