Sweco utilizes building information modeling BIM, in all phases of a building’s life cycle, from needs assessment to handover, use and maintenance. Design and commissioning are based on our own effective design methods that utilize LEAN principles and commissioning based on business information models. Our expertise ensures that the commissioner’s and end user’s goals are met, all the while taking quality and cost-effectiveness into account. We are active in developing our skills in design, modelling, simulations and virtual reality.

To us, information modelling is a tool to aid in design, construction, use and maintenance. We focus on utilizing and distributing information models and the information contained in them throughout the entire life cycle of the building or industrial plant. Modelling enhances communication and seamless cooperation between the various parties involved in the construction process.

Our work is based on BIM. We produce and use the information to assess various design options and to control the scope, costs and schedule of the project as well as to simulate for example energy efficiency and analyze life cycle cost assessments, procurement and prefabrication.

Information modelling is all part of our daily. With the help of BIM, we ensure the functionality of a building in terms of user-friendliness, effectiveness and engineering. Virtual design and construction ensure effective design and buildability. Additionally, our quality assurance works to minimize any additional work or alterations during construction.

As a pioneer of virtual reality, we use the Sweco Cave system and other virtual design methods extensively in project planning, management and design by utilizing Big Room work, facilitation and user-oriented design methods.
