Fire Safety
Professional fire safety planning starts during the project planning stage, when we can produce cost-efficient and safe solutions, thus impacting the building’s entire life cycle as well as the building’s user comfort.
Close cooperation with our customers and an understanding of their goals and needs, combined with our high professional fire technology competence, guarantee the best possible fire safety solutions. A risk analysis and a risk management method are key elements of these. Every year, we take part in hundreds of projects from residential buildings to demanding industrial sites.
A fire engineering plan is an initial set of background data that serves all the project parties and is part of the materials attached to the building permit. A separate smoke extraction plan is also often included in a fire engineering plan. At best, this can be utilised over the building’s entire life cycle.
Fire engineering plans and dimensions are based on either the table and numeric values of degree 848/2017 on buildings’ fire safety or functional plans based on expected fire development, which are often created on the basis of fire simulations. Planning based on the expected fire development allows deviations from table values, as long as the fire safety level can be proven to be high enough. Functional planning reviews the overall safety of a building or a part of a building in properties that are exceptional due to their large number of users or due to the special materials used, for example.
In planning based on expected fire development, the necessary reviews will always be conducted by taking the site’s requirements into consideration. These requirements may include factors such as exit time calculations, fire flow simulations and thermal radiation calculations, which review the protective distance needed between buildings, for example.
Our experts also design the fire measurement of structures and perform smoke extraction simulations. We use the most advanced software (Pathfinder, FDS+Evac, Pyrosim) and the most effective optimised calculation environments.
Our special competence and other consulting services include total operational readiness time calculations for fire departments, evacuation safety reviews, ATEX documents, rescue plans, extinguishing water management plans, fire block plans, cooling/extinguishing impact modelling of fire extinguishing systems, and reliability calculations.
We also provide third-party statements and carry out inspections for product approval and fire safety. When necessary, our fire engineers can also take part in fire investigations together with the rescue department and they have the necessary FISE qualifications.
Automatic extinguishing equipment are a major factor in a building’s fire safety. An extinguishing system allows us to protect the building, its operations, production, personnel, and assets. Our experts will help the customer choose the best possible automatic extinguishing system. The most common fire extinguishing systems we design are sprinkler, low pressure misting, high pressure misting or gas extinguishing systems.
When protecting locations, we use all the approved alternatives, such as different sprinkler system types, which are area systems or pre-release equipment, and aerosol, gas, foam, carbon dioxide and powder extinguishing equipment.
We constantly develop our competence and train our experts, which allows us to guarantee solutions that are always compliant with the valid laws, degrees and standards. We utilise 3D modelling for design solutions, which helps us turn the solutions into a visual, easy-to-understand format for the customer and all other project parties.
