Energy efficiency

Housing co-operatives have plenty of opportunities to save on energy costs and improve their E value and housing comfort. Sweco’s impartial energy surveys and comparative analyses help you make optimal decisions in terms of finances, housing comfort and healthy living environments. The solutions typically analysed include renewable energy projects, such as geothermal heating, solar energy and heat recovery in the ventilation system, as well as feasibility analyses on the additional insulation of facades and energy-efficient windows.

Our experts look after the client’s interests by ensuring that all goals are met.

Solutions to be assessed include renewable energy projects such as ground-source heat pumps, solar energy, and heat recovery in ventilation systems (HRV), as well as the feasibility of façade insulation upgrades and energy-efficient windows.

Typical energy efficiency projects:

  1. Transition to ground-source heating
  2. Adding heat recovery to ventilation systems
  3. Energy-efficient windows and façade insulation upgrades
  4. Solar energy
  5. Heating network balancing and adjustment

Ground-source heating assessment

  1. Evaluation of the functional, technical, and economic feasibility of ground-source heating
  2. Investment and savings estimates including profitability calculations
  3. The assessment produces a wide range of key figures, providing a clear and reasonably accurate understanding of costs already at an early stage

Energy investment study An energy investment study identifies which energy efficiency measures are economically viable, either in connection with upcoming renovations or as standalone improvements. The report presents the current energy performance of the property and selected energy-saving measures, including calculated savings potential, cost estimates, and payback periods.

Ventilation energy efficiency assessment Depending on the property, the study examines options such as adding heat recovery, introducing mechanical ventilation, or implementing demand-controlled ventilation. It evaluates the technical feasibility of these systems and estimates achievable savings.

E-value calculations for ARA energy grants ARA has allocated €100 million in energy subsidies for residential buildings (2020–2022). A requirement for funding is an improvement in the building’s E-value (energy performance indicator). We assess how your housing company can achieve the required improvement and prepare the necessary energy calculations for the application.

Electric vehicle charging assessment

  1. Evaluation of the adequacy of the electrical connection and cabling for EV charging systems
  2. Up to 35% support for design and implementation costs may be available from ARA

Project management and supervision of energy retrofits

  1. Tendering process for energy renovation works
  2. Preparation of contract documentation
  3. Technical, financial, and schedule supervision of the project
  4. Warranty period supervision and monitoring of achieved savings

Additional services include:

  1. Exhaust air heat pump (EAHP) assessment
  2. Solar energy assessment
  3. Heating system assessment, among others

Our experts ensure that the client’s interests are safeguarded by securing the achievement of project objectives.
