Circular economy value chains
Circular economy value chains
One of the objectives of circular economy activities is to improve the resource-smart circulation of material flows in society. In the development of plant projects and circular economy areas, we make use of our knowledge of different sectors and their operators in order to build efficient value chains and networks of circular economy operators.
Building a value network
By using value network analysis, we identify regional, national and international opportunities in circular economy activities. For example, new circular economy value chains can be created around current themes such as the recovery of carbon dioxide and the recycling of textiles and plastics. The sustainable battery industry also creates business opportunities linked to the circular economy.
In the concept, it is essential to ensure the availability of raw materials, the comprehensive utilisation of side streams, and synergy benefits between different operators. Sweco is used to similar analyses and surveys, for example in energy sector commissions aimed at increasing the production of biogas.
Circular economy surveys
The creation of an ecosystem focused on the circular economy often starts with a survey of the material flows. At the same time, we survey the market situation, the availability of raw materials and the opportunities available for the further use of by-products. The project’s added techno-economic value and competitive advantages are typically determined for all parties in the value chain.
When examining the location of operations, we take into account the availability of materials, the existing infrastructure and functions as well as the links between different operators. By taking environmental perspectives into account early on, we can support the project’s later phases and facilitate the permit processes.
