Cosmetic safety assessment<\/h4>\n

The minimum required information in the safety assessment has been determined in the Annex I of Regulation on cosmetic products.<\/p>\n

The cosmetic safety assessment consists of the safety information regarding the cosmetic product i.e., information from the safety assessment and safety report. The cosmetic safety assessment must include conclusions of the safety assessment, labeled warnings and instructions for use, details concerning the evaluator, and justifications based on the established descriptions of the safety assessment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Regulation on cosmetic products<\/h4>\n

The Regulation on cosmetic products (1223\/2009) regulates all of the responsibilities of companies when introducing a new cosmetic product to the market or changing the recipe of an existing cosmetic product.<\/p>\n

The labelling required for cosmetic products is defined in the Cosmetics Regulation. Mandatory labelling includes, among other things, the name and address of the responsible person, list of ingredients, shelf life of the product and its intended use. Mandatory labelling must be on the product in both Finnish and Swedish.<\/p>\n

Marketing claims are often an integral part of cosmetic labelling. Marketing claims for cosmetics are regulated separately in the Cosmetics Claims Regulation (655\/2013\/EU). In addition to direct claims, marketing claims also include the name of the product, for example. The Claims Regulation sets out certain criteria that cosmetic claims must follow. The regulation aims to guarantee fair competition in the market.<\/p>\n
