Industrial EPCM services help support Finnish circular economy<\/h1>\n

Sweco\u2019s experts provide EPCM services for industrial plant projects, in different scopes and as chosen by the customer. The scope of the service can be customised.\u201cWe can flexibly adapt our EPCM services to meet the customer\u2019s needs and suit their interests. In addition to project management and procurement services, the delivery can include planning and on-site assignments,\u201d says\u00a0Mika Kierikka<\/strong>, Sweco\u2019s circular economy expert. The cooperation may also include BIM and safety coordination as well as delivery, installation and commissioning control. \u201cWe ensure that the circular economy project will be pushed through successfully, smoothly and on schedule.\u201dPrincipal Designer is also responsible for risk management<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sweco acts as a construction contracting consultant or industrial principal designer in many projects. The principle designer of industrial plant projects focuses on managing production interfaces and coordination. Risk management is one vital part of the cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u201cProject management includes, in addition to safety aspects, the management of operational risks, e.g. through HAZOP, hazard and operability study. We ensure that the project stays on schedule and within its budget and that its goals are kept. In the end, risk management is all about managing the project in its entirety,\u201d Kierikka says.<\/p>\n

Virtual solutions support smooth cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Good cooperation is just as important to EPCM services as competence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf cooperation does not work, the goals cannot be reached,\u201d summarises Sweco\u2019s Leading Specialist and Project Manager\u00a0Arto Hakola<\/strong>. According to him, good cooperation is an essential requirement for also keeping the project in schedule and within the budget. Cooperation methods are constantly refined, and virtual technology is one example of the tools available for supporting the dialogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cSweco\u2019s VirtualSite solution creates a detailed VR model of the industrial plant, and it enables, for example, demonstrating the changes that the new subprojects will cause to the existing process,\u201d Kierikka says.<\/p>\n

Successful dialogue can also be seen in the end product\u2019s quality. An efficient, well-managed process ensures a purer end product, which is essential to circular economy projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor our part, we will ensure that the quality of the recycled product will meet the demands set for it in relation to the original raw materials. The higher the product\u2019s quality, the more valuable refined products,\u201d Hakola states.<\/p>\n

Active cooperation to promote circular economy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sweco has decades of experience of circular economy projects, processing of industrial side streams and recycled fibre projects, e.g. from wood to textiles. Thanks to strong partnerships and multidisciplinary competence, the handprint of Sweco\u2019s experts is widely visible in the Finnish circular economy.<\/p>\n
