Sweco’s Sustainability Report and Annual Review 2024 published<\/h1>\n

Sweco’s own sustainability efforts have promoted more accurate reporting of carbon emissions and the building of an inclusive work community. Sweco’s goal is to achieve net-zero by 2040.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweco has published its <\/span>Sustainability Report and Annual Review 2024<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweco’s own sustainability work continues systematically<\/h2>\n

Sweco aims to minimize greenhouse gas emissions at all stages of the company’s value chain and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. As an interim target, Sweco aims to halve emissions by 2030. In 2024, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) confirmed and approved Sweco’s near-term emission reduction targets for 2030.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are systematically developing the reporting of our own emissions, and this year we will start producing emissions data on a quarterly basis. Reporting also enables us to calculate the carbon footprint of our own work in the projects. In this way, we make the emission impacts of Sweco’s design work transparent to project clients. Last year, we have succeeded in reducing the emissions of our own operations in Finland, for example, by electrifying the vehicle fleet and reducing domestic air travel. The energy solutions of our premises and the recycling of office furniture also have a significant impact. As Finland’s energy sector produces less emission and becomes cleaner, Sweco’s emissions will also decrease,”\u00a0says\u00a0Iida Vakkuri<\/strong>, CSO at Sweco Finland.<\/p>\n

Our diversity work supports leadership and improves the workday experience<\/h2>\n

In 2024, Sweco continued to build and develop an inclusive work community. As part of the work community’s diversity and equality work, attention was paid to the role of women in the work community, opportunities to participate in English and competence development.<\/p>\n

Employees have been able to share their own ideas in the Diversity group. The group has founded, among other things, the queer network for sexual and gender minorities as well as peer support group for neurodiverse people. Sweco’s neurodiversity work was awarded \u00a0in an competition organised by Oikotie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We work actively to ensure that every Sweco employee has a good working day experience. Last year, we paid attention to the experience of non-native Finnish speaking employees by increasing English-language communication and events, and training. We believe that a diverse work community is also in the interest of our clients,\u201d says Iida Vakkuri.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
