Sweco Collaborates in Fazer’s Factory Project\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n

Fazer starts the renewal of its chocolate production and invests approximately EUR 400 million in the construction of a new chocolate factory in Lahti. The investment is the largest in Fazer’s history, and it is also very significant on the scale of the Finnish food industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project’s scope is approximately 33,000 gross square metres, and the factory is scheduled for completion in 2028. Sweco is responsible for the overall design of the food factory. The factory to be built in Lahti will combine Fazer’s chocolate expertise with highly automated production lines, enabling the development of new product types. The plant is being designed to minimize operational CO2 emissions through energy-efficiency measures and electrification. The scope, metrics and timeline for these reductions will be established during the design phase.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new factory stands in a prominent location along the Lahti motorway, where its visibility has been carefully considered. Special attention has been given to the architectural expression of both the motorway-facing fa\u00e7ade and the main entrance. The design draws inspiration from Fazer\u2019s strong brand identity and the building\u2019s impressive scale, aiming for a restrained yet striking visual impact. The architectural concept evokes the image of a chocolate tablet breaking into pieces: playful, distinctive, and instantly recognizable.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new building combines the company’s long expertise in chocolate with modern design solutions.
