The plant prevents frequency and voltage changes in the electricity grid.<\/p>\n<p>Finland&#8217;s first synchronous condensing plant is at the Jylkk\u00e4 substation in Finland. There are large wind power projects planned in its surroundings, which will be connected to the electricity grid via frequency converters. The synchronous condenser itself is like a synchronous machine, the energy stored in the rotating mass of which stabilizes the frequency and voltage changes in the power grid. This feature is needed in growing wind power production.<\/p>\n<p>Sweco&#8217;s experts have been involved in the synchronous compensator plant project in the design phase, in the supervision of equipment deliveries and in the supervision of installations on site. Destia was responsible for the construction of the plant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The synchronous compensation plant enables the full use of electricity produced by wind power.
