OP-Pohjola headquarters<\/h1>\n

OP-Pohjola\u2019s Vallila 2015 project has won awards in the international series for Total BIM and for the best building information modelling site in Finland in 2014. Sweco has been an integral part of the project team and was responsible for the HVAC and structural design and detailing during the design and implementation stages.<\/p>\n

OP headquarters in Vallila, Helsinki, is part of the OP-Pohjola Group\u2019s major project called Vallila 2015, where the premises for all the metropolitan area operations of OP-Pohjola \u2013 home to over 3,000 employees \u2013 were redeveloped and constructed on a city block that originally housed OKO offices. There are seven floors above ground level, and parking spaces for 850 cars in the underground car park.<\/p>\n

The work started in 2013, and the enormous worksite of OP-Pohjola proceeded in three stages. As a result, the newly renovated offices were completed in 2015 and they are now pursuing the LEED Gold level certification.<\/p>\n

Using the information model was an obvious choice for the project, which won several awards in 2014 and 2015. Sweco has strong BIM competence, thanks to which the shared information models could be utilised by the whole planning group both in new construction and renovations. The information models were in shared use in the IFC format, which made it easy to transfer them from one party to another.<\/p>\n

There were several reasons to model the buildings and structures to be renovated and adapted. Designing the new construction elements that were closely connected to the old buildings, such as roof lights, required the modelling of the old buildings. In addition, designing the building service systems for existing buildings without modelling them would have meant significant risks at the production stage.<\/p>\n
