Fazer chocolate factory in Lahti \u2013 the world\u2019s most modern chocolate factory<\/h1>\n

We were involved in preparing the investment decision for Fazer\u2019s Lahti chocolate factory and are participating in the project\u2019s implementation in several roles as part of Fazer\u2019s project organization.<\/p>\n

In Fazer\u2019s new chocolate factory to be built in Lahti, extensive chocolate expertise is combined with highly automated production lines, carbon-neutral operation in terms of the factory\u2019s own energy consumption, and efficient use of raw materials. The factory aims to achieve BREEAM environmental certification. Construction work at the Pippo business area in Lahti began in August, and the factory will be commissioned in 2028.<\/p>\n

The construction phase of the new chocolate factory will employ hundreds of professionals across various fields, totaling an estimated more than 500,000 working hours. This is the largest investment in Fazer\u2019s history, with a value of approximately \u20ac400 million.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive project management<\/h2>\n

Fimpec, now part of Sweco, joined the project during the preparation phase at the end of 2024. Following the investment decision announced in July 2025, cooperation has continued, and our experts are working in many different roles within Fazer\u2019s project organization. Our responsibilities include project management tasks such as construction supervision, design management, schedule and cost control, documentation, quality assurance, site and equipment installation supervision, and safety coordination.<\/p>\n

Safeguarding the client\u2019s interests<\/h2>\n

The contribution of every professional involved is aimed at this goal, and we are pleased to have brought together such broad expertise,\u201d says Harri K\u00e4mpp\u00e4 from Fazer, who leads the investment project.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur role in the project is to safeguard the client\u2019s interests across different areas,\u201d says Markus Pekkola, who works as a construction manager within Fazer\u2019s organization.<\/p>\n

We operate as an integral part of the client\u2019s organization according to the project\u2019s needs, and topics related to the clean transition, energy efficiency, and automation are core areas of our expertise. \u201cWe are pleased that we can provide Fazer with the experts they need.\u201d<\/p>\n
