Sweco.fi and verkkokauppa.sweco.fi accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to Sweco’s website  (sweco.fi) Sweco’s online store (verkkokauppa.sweco.fi) and was prepared on 6th of June 2025. The website is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, according to which online public services must be accessible. This means that everyone must have equal opportunities to use online services.

Sweco is constantly striving to improve the accessibility of the website. This policy explains what shortcomings there are in the accessibility of the website, how you can give us feedback, and how we have responded to the feedback.

Accessibility situation

Sweco’s website and online store largely meets the accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.1 A and AA levels).
The key deficiencies in the online service are described in this statement.

Content that is not yet accessible

There are errors in the page title hierarchy

The order of the title levels of the pages in the HTML code is partly incorrect. HTML may have extra levels of headings that don’t have text. These levels are displayed to screen readers as blank headings. (WCAG 1.3.1)

There are deficiencies in text alternatives for images and charts

Text alternatives for images with text are missing. Essential information may not be conveyed due to inadequate text alternatives, for example, in timeline images or charts. (WCAG 1.1.1, WCAG 1.4.5)

Accessibility Deficiencies in PDF Files

The PDF files on the website contain visual elements, inadequate text alternatives, and formatting deficiencies that hinder screen reader use.

  • The files may have formatting flaws that hinder the use of screen readers, such as empty line breaks and headings that are not labeled at the heading level. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • There may be deficiencies in the table structures of the files that hinder the use of screen readers. Table structures have been used to lay out the text, programmatic column headings are missing, or similar data has been divided into several different tables. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Files may contain footnotes that are not linked to the text, making them difficult to interpret with a screen reader. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • There may be gaps in the metadata of the files, such as missing titles or incorrect language assignments and author information. (WCAG 4.1.2, 3.1.2)
  • Some files have no schema labels at all. (WCAG 1.3.1)

Links

There are shortcomings in naming the links on the site. The same link text can have several different items, and not all link texts work out of context, such as “read here” or “read more”. The site contains image links that do not have a text alternative that indicates the purpose of the link. (WCAG 2.4.4)

Some external links on the site indicate that the link takes you to a new tab, even though the link opens in the same tab. (WCAG 2.4.4)

There are broken links on the site. The links will be corrected in connection with other updating work.

There are contrast problems in the content

  • The contrast between the text and the background color is not high enough in all cases.

There are problems, for example, with the contrast between the background color and text color of the additional information buttons on top of the image on the website.

  • Embed lacks legend: For example, there are YouTube embeds on the site that don’t have an explanatory title. (WCAG 4.1.2)

Layout formatting in code

In individual cases, HTML code has been used to format the content instead of CSS. For example, in embeds that come from external systems, the coding cannot be influenced. The formatting of the body text may have incorrect tags in the html code. The bold, font, you and strike identifiers may have been used incorrectly as identifiers. (WCAG 1.3.1)

Content from other systems: The online service contains content imported from other systems, the accessibility deficiencies of which originate from the original system.

Social media

Accessibility requirements are taken into account in the content of the social media channels maintained by Sweco Finland according to the opportunities offered by each channel. Visual and audiovisual material produced before 1 July 2025 also includes content that does not meet the accessibility requirements.

Content that is not covered by legislation

The website contains content that is not subject to the requirements of the legislation. Such content includes:

  • content published in the service by third parties that are not produced, financed or monitored by the service provider itself and published before 1.7.2025
  • Files published before 1.7.2025
  • Live video or audio transmissions that are not stored for storage or republication
  • video or audio recordings published before 1 July 2025
