Iida Vakkuri appointed Division Director of Sustainability and Resilience division at Sweco

Published: Jan 16, 2026

Iida Vakkuri has been appointed Division Director of Sweco’s new Sustainability and Resilience division as of 1 January 2026. Vakkuri will continue as Sweco Finland’s CSO and a member of the Executive Team.

“The core business of Sweco’s new division is strategic sustainability consulting and solving challenges related to the resilience of society. For few years, Iida has successfully led our own sustainability measures and developed Sweco’s sustainability services, where ensuring the resilience of society plays an increasingly important role,” says Thomas Hietto, CEO of Sweco Finland.

The new division will bring together leading experts in sustainability, climate management and societal resilience. Sweco’s goal is to support its clients more effectively than before in green transition, climate risk management, biodiversity and crisis resilience, as well as by offering environmental and biodiversity services, combining them with Sweco’s other offerings.

“Our experts are currently working on ensuring the operational capability of companies and organisations. In an uncertain world where environmental and sustainability legislation is in turbulence, we need a clear outlook for companies to create sustainable growth. Our new division strengthens our clients’ sustainability and resilience in all kinds of projects, regardless of the industry,” says Iida Vakkuri.

Vakkuri has worked at Sweco since 2021 in various strategic business development and management positions and as Chief Sustainability Officer since 2024. In addition to her new position, Vakkuri will continue as Sweco Finland’s CSO and a member of the Executive Team.
