Iida Vakkuri has been appointed Chief Sustainability Officer for Sweco Finland. Vakkuri has served in Sweco Finland’s Management Team as Operative Business Director since 2023 and will now take up the role to lead sustainability issues both in business development and in Sweco’s own operations.
“As Europe’s leading architecture and engineering company, our key task is to build a more sustainable society together with our clients. Sustainability is at the core of our strategy and is linked to everything we do. We want to further accelerate the promotion of Sweco’s sustainability services for the benefit of our clients and improve the responsibility of our own operations. Iida has a very energetic and inspiring approach, the extensive expertise required for the job and solid experience in client service tasks,” says Thomas Hietto, CEO of Sweco Finland.
“Sweco wants to be a forerunner in sustainable development in its own operations and, above all, in its client projects. In addition to our own carbon neutrality targets, it is important for us to be able to demonstrate our carbon handprint in our projects. In addition, our goal is to promote sustainable solutions as part of all our assignments. In the future, projects in the built environment and industry will also be increasingly steered in accordance with sustainability targets,” says Iida Vakkuri, Chief Sustainability Officer of Sweco Finland.
Sweco participated in the international EcoVadis sustainability assessment for the first time in late 2023. Sweco received the Silver level rating, with the highest scores coming from environmental and climate sustainability as well as social responsibility processes.
“I am pleased with the good evaluations we have received, especially in environmental and climate responsibility, and our actions related to social responsibility, such as employees,” says Vakkuri.
