Sweco to Design Metsä Group’s Muoto Fibre Packaging Production Facility in Äänekoski

Metsä Group is investing in the production of Muoto fibre packaging in Äänekoski. The design of the new production facility continues the long-standing collaboration between Sweco and Metsä.

Sweco is responsible for the process, ICT, electrical and automation engineering for the production facility, as well as layout and piping design. Sweco also participated in the design of the Muoto technology pilot plant. In addition, the company has been involved in several Metsä projects at the Äänekoski mill site and in the development of new wood-based products, including the Äänekoski bioproduct mill and the Äänekoski Kerto LVL mill.

“We have collaborated with Metsä at the Äänekoski mill site for a long time and have also participated in the earlier development phases of the Muoto technology. Our long-standing cooperation and the shared experience gained from previous projects mean that the project’s starting points, operating environment and design requirements are very familiar to us,” says Tuomas Salminen, Division Director, Industry and Energy, Sweco.
