Sweco acquires nuclear expert company Platom

Sweco has acquired the entire share capital of Platom Oy, and the company has been transferred to Sweco’s ownership. With the acquisition, Sweco will become Finland’s leading expert in the nuclear industry and at the same time strengthen its position in Europe’s growing nuclear energy sector.

Platom is an expert company specializing in nuclear, serving nuclear operators in the fields of nuclear and radiation safety, licensing, nuclear projects and nuclear technology. The company’s expertise covers all stages of the life cycle, from uranium recovery to the treatment and final disposal of spent fuel and radioactive waste. Platom has more than 25 years of experience in expert services in the nuclear industry and employs over 30 specialists.

With the acquisition, Sweco’s services will be expanded, especially with expertise in nuclear technology, licensing and radiation safety.

As a result of the acquisition, Platom has been transferred to Sweco’s ownership. According to current estimates, the consolidation into Sweco will take place at the end of 2026, when Platom’s experts will become part of Sweco’s Industry and Energy Division.
