Sweco Finland Q3 2026: Client focus and strong position in an improving market supported good development
Published: October 29, 2026
Today, Sweco published its interim report for the third quarter of 2026. Sweco Finland’s net sales and EBITA improved compared to the corresponding period last year, and growth continued both organically and driven by acquisitions.
Sweco Finland’s net sales for the third quarter totalled EUR 81.8 million, an increase of EUR 11.5 million compared to the corresponding period last year. EBITA was EUR 8.3 million, which was EUR 1.9 million more than in the corresponding period last year. The EBITA margin was 10.0 per cent, compared to 9.1 per cent a year earlier. Growth continued both organically and driven by acquisitions and was 17%, of which organic growth amounted to 5% and acquired growth contributed 12%.
“Overall, the Finnish market improved during the quarter, although differences between segments remained. The infrastructure market remained stable, and the energy and industry segments improved. Increased activity in the data center market supported the positive development, and demand for public construction remained solid. Demand in residential buildings remained challenging”, says Thomas Hietto, CEO of Sweco Finland.
Sweco Finland won and completed several significant projects during the third quarter.
Nordic Ren-Gas, a European e-methane producer, has selected Sweco as its engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) partner for an industrial-scale plant in Tampere, Finland. Sweco will lead design, procurement and construction and coordinate technology integration. The plant will combine hydrogen production, biogenic carbon dioxide capture, synthetic methane production, and heat recovery into one integrated energy system. The plant is designed to adjust production to electricity availability while aiming to meet EU requirements for renewable fuels of non-biological origin. The project timeframe is 2026-2029.
Sweco conducted a study for the Ministry of the Environment on alternative models for implementing a natural value bank and the associated costs. The aim of the natural value bank is to lower the risk of both companies and landowners participating in the natural value market, and at its best, the bank could accelerate the development of a new market and, through that, support biodiversity and ecological restoration. A key aspect of the study was to examine what kind of operating models could be used for the natural value bank in Finland, and what kind of start-up measures and budget they require.
Sweco acted as a partner in the design of an energy centre to be commissioned at Ensto’s Porvoo factory. The project integrates industrial cooling, heat pump technology and the district heating system into a single solution in which heat generated by industrial processes is recovered and utilised in the local district heating network. The joint project between Porvoon Energia and Ensto is part of a broader trend in which energy companies are seeking new local heat sources alongside traditional energy production. The design work involved balancing the technical requirements of the energy centre with the limited space available in the factory environment and the operational constraints necessary to ensure uninterrupted production.
