Sweco carried out an energy efficiency project in the Isku Arena owned by Lahden Jäähalli Oy using the service model developed by Motiva. The costs of the ESCO project are covered with the savings generated by energy efficiency.

Sweco acted as the commissioner’s consultant in this project and compared the offers and their content provided by ESCO operators. Sweco was in charge of the comparison and contract phase of the tendering process, construction tasks and work monitoring of the project.

The site automation was renewed so that it could be used to control all of the building technology. This improved the reliability of the facilities and made the clarification of any disturbances easier. The software was diversified and made more energy efficient.

The most significant energy saving operations included the recovery of waste heat from the cooling compressor, improvements to the ventilation system and changes to lighting. Additionally, a low-energy film that reflects light and heat was installed onto the hall ceiling.

The investment costs of the project are covered by savings in energy consumption, which means that the fees for the users remain the same. The investment can be repaid in less than ten years.
