Turku City Theatre

The Turku City Theatre is part of the most significant modern, monumental environment in the Turku city centre as well as a central part of the Aurajoki river cultural landscape. Sweco is participating in the building services design of the renovation and expansion project of a very valuable building in terms of architecture and cityscape.

Turku City Theatre, which had grown weary, cramped and in desperate need of modernisation, is being completely renovated over the next two years. The theatre will also be expanded towards Urheilupuisto and the banks of the Aurajoki. The current theatre building was opened in 1962 and its ventilation, electrical engineering and lighting are now being completely renewed. Special attention is also being paid to accessibility and fire safety.

When completed in 2017, the renovation will expand the Turku City Theatre premises by a third. The site is designed by information modelling.

Sweco is acting as the expert in charge of HVAC and sprinkler system design.
