Fazer chocolate factory in Lahti – the world’s most modern chocolate factory

We were involved in preparing the investment decision for Fazer’s Lahti chocolate factory and are participating in the project’s implementation in several roles as part of Fazer’s project organization.
In Fazer’s new chocolate factory to be built in Lahti, extensive chocolate expertise is combined with highly automated production lines, carbon-neutral operation in terms of the factory’s own energy consumption, and efficient use of raw materials. The factory aims to achieve BREEAM environmental certification. Construction work at the Pippo business area in Lahti began in August, and the factory will be commissioned in 2028.
The construction phase of the new chocolate factory will employ hundreds of professionals across various fields, totaling an estimated more than 500,000 working hours. This is the largest investment in Fazer’s history, with a value of approximately €400 million.
Comprehensive project management
Fimpec, now part of Sweco, joined the project during the preparation phase at the end of 2024. Following the investment decision announced in July 2025, cooperation has continued, and our experts are working in many different roles within Fazer’s project organization. Our responsibilities include project management tasks such as construction supervision, design management, schedule and cost control, documentation, quality assurance, site and equipment installation supervision, and safety coordination.
Safeguarding the client’s interests

The contribution of every professional involved is aimed at this goal, and we are pleased to have brought together such broad expertise,” says Harri Kämppä from Fazer, who leads the investment project.
“Our role in the project is to safeguard the client’s interests across different areas,” says Markus Pekkola, who works as a construction manager within Fazer’s organization.
