Sweco surveyed the comprehensive development of Espoo’s energy system

The aim of the work was to determine what the development of Espoo's energy system enables. The work evaluated the regional economic impacts of the investments required for energy system development, emission impacts, and the investments they make possible. Additionally, the activities facilitated by energy system investments and their impact on the region's economy and emissions were assessed. The study was commissioned by the City of Espoo, Caruna, Fortum, Fingrid, and CLC. Read more

Sipti Companies merges with Sweco

On 31 May 2025, Sipti Oy, Sipti Environment Oy, Sipti Infra Oy and Kymen Sipti Oy will merge to Sweco Finland Oy. Subsequently, the Sipti companies will no longer exist as company names and and instead their operations will continue under the brand Sweco. Read more

Sweco conducts strategic environmental impact assessment for offshore wind power

Sweco conducts an assessment of potential offshore wind power areas in the Finnish economic zone on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. In Finland, the environmental impact assessment (SEA) procedure is a statutory process intended to ensure that the authorities' plans and programs adequately consider environmental impacts before making decisions. The first round of consultation is open until 4.7.2025. Read more

Sweco partners with Gasgrid for the preparation of the national hydrogen infrastucture

The network company Gasgrid Finland has published a plan for the first phase of the national hydrogen infrastucture. The preparation of the pipeline route, which is more than 1000 kilometres long, will next proceed to an environmental impact assessment. Read more

Katajanokka Pier has been chosen as the winner of the 2024 RIL Award. The architectural office and hotel complex is one of the most impressive creations in timber construction. Sweco served as the structural designer for the project and was also responsible for the production design of the timber elements and steel structures. Read more
