Sweco is challenging itself, its customers and the whole of Finland to work towards a more sustainable society

Achieving the most ambitious climate objectives requires cooperation. That is why Sweco is publishing a sustainable development manifesto, because Finland cannot become carbon neutral without cooperation between experts and comprehensive action. We want to employ our expertise and become part of the solution, but also serve as an example, which is why we are committed to making our Finnish operation carbon neutral by 2035.

Sweco is a significant expert in the built environment and industry in Finland and globally. In Finland, we participate in some 10,000 built environment and industry projects every year. This means that the choices we make have an exceptionally significant impact. “Because design is so impactful, Sweco plays a key part in building a sustainable future. However, climate goals are shared, and the issue now becomes; how to move forward together,” says  Markku Varis, President of Sweco Finland.Sweco has published a sustainable development manifesto, in which it challenges itself, its customers and the whole of Finland to work towards a more sustainable society. Sweco is committed to becoming carbon neutral in Finland by 2035 and making the entire group carbon neutral by 2040. “As the leading expert in the industry, our task is to promote sustainable development in society. We want to serve as an example, but, first and foremost, I think that we can be part of the solution. The best solutions are created in cooperation with our customers,” Markku Varis says.Learn more about the sustainable development manifesto by Sweco on our website: www.sweco.fi/meilla-on-suunnitelma (in Finnish).
