From data excellence to real client impact
At Sweco, data and analytics are essential and practical tools that help our clients design, build and operate projects more effectively and efficiently. This is reflected both in Sweco Group’s recent Data & Analytics (D&A) maturity assessment and in our everyday project work.
Finland consistently ranks among the world’s top performers in data driven capabilities. In the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), Finland is regularly placed among the leading EU countries for digital skills. This strong position is further reinforced by global rankings such as the IMD Digital Competitiveness Index, where Finland ranks among the top countries for digital knowledge and technology adoption — highlighting the country’s advanced capabilities in data and analytics.
Building on this strong national digital foundation, Sweco in Finland has made long-term, focused investments in data platforms, aligned technical solutions and a strong data driven culture. Together, these factors have enabled Sweco Finland to achieve an exceptional 5.3 out of 6 in Sweco’s internal D&A Maturity Index, placing us firmly in the fully mature category.
From strong data culture to practical AI
Our long-term investments in high-quality data, robust platforms and clear data ownership provide a strong foundation for practical and responsible use of AI. Because AI is only as effective as the data behind it, our mature data driven culture enables better decision making, automation and new insights across the entire project lifecycle.
Turning data into real value for our clients
By turning data into practical, easy‑to‑use solutions, we help our clients plan, build and operate projects more efficiently, with better control over cost, risk and sustainability. Our data‑driven approach supports the full project lifecycle — from early design to construction and operations.
Projects where data and analytics played a big role
- Ruskeasuo depot, Helsinki
A data-model-based carbon footprint calculation was used to guide design decisions from an early stage. This allowed the project team to compare alternatives and choose solutions with a lower environmental impact — turning sustainability goals into measurable outcomes. - Fineweld at a major battery manufacturing site
Using SmartDrawings, Fineweld improved access to up-to-date design and site information directly on location. This reduced errors, supported smoother execution and improved communication between teams. - Confederation of Finnish Industries
Strategic regional economic modelling supported the acceleration of the national green transition in Finland. Sweco carried out an analysis for the Confederation of Finnish Industries, which shows that Finland has strong potential for an annual €3 billion increase in GDP — provided that the investment environment for green transition projects is maintained and strengthened. - Port of Helsinki – West project
Sweco supports the Port of Helsinki’s West Harbour project with project and procurement planning, design management, schedule and cost control, site supervision, safety coordination, and digital situational awareness. The integrated system connects tools like Congrid, Sokopro, Ramrisk, Scudo Pro, and Microsoft platforms, enabling a data-driven approach and faster, more transparent decision-making across the project. As we continue to develop these technologies, our focus remains clear: Turning data into practical value for our clients and supporting better projects.
