Energy efficiency
Sweco is an energy efficiency expert. Sustainable development is a key part of a modern planning process. Our energy experts take a multidimensional approach to steering construction and urban development projects towards energy-efficient end results.
With each commission, we also consider the customer’s project-specific goals and the most cost-effective options.
Energy efficiency is reflected in all our operations. The projects apply the latest technology, renewable energy and innovations that have been shown to work in practice. We keep an open mind when creating solutions covering the entire lifespan of a building. The appropriate and efficient use of energy, as well as energy recycling, steer us towards zero-energy construction and properties’ carbon-neutrality goals.
Smart lighting systems
Indoor and outdoor lighting has a significant effect on the safety and functionality of a property and its users’ wellbeing, productivity and energy levels. The best outcome is achieved by integrating energy efficient LED lights to digital control and management systems. Appropriate, AI-based lighting control will also take the amount of daylight into account. Furthermore, the users’ wishes, and the system’s adaptability and lifespan sustainability are always factored in when designing lighting.
Demand-side and peak load management
Power management is increasingly important at a national level, because the use of renewable energy sources is on the rise and there is more fluctuation in the energy generation than before. Demand-side management reduces energy consumption, which saves costs and lowers the CO2 emissions. The demand-side management of individual buildings allows the national energy production to be appropriately managed, which in turn reduces the occurrence of peak loads, improves the security of the energy supply and reduces the emissions from power generation.
Developing local energy solutions
We help our customers develop local energy solutions during each step from planning to implementation. The first step is a local energy assessment, with which we compare different implementation options, for example, in terms of their lifecycle costs and climate goals. We also review the possibility of utilising waste and condensate heat, so that energy can be stored and recycled as efficiently as possible.
Energy efficiency projects
When carried out correctly, energy efficiency projects are profitable investments, because they help conserve energy. For example, if a project invests in harvesting waste heat or using renewable energy, it can also effectively reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions. We offer projects our diverse expertise in innovative and smart energy solutions that guarantee energy efficiency and excellent indoor conditions.
